Our boat trips are not just transport, but an experience, says general manager and skipper Amanda Veronica Hausken of Trondheim by Boat.
All year round, Trondheim by Boat welcomes passengers on board in its unique traditional clinker-built boats, acknowledged by UNESCO. The tours go on the Nidelva river and out into the Trondheimsfjord.
– We want to make the fjord available for everyone living in the city of Trondheim. A trip with Trondheim By Boat is much more than transportation. We want the passengers to experience and learn about the wonderful ecosystem hiding under the surface, says Hausken.
In addition to groups of friends and businesses, the attraction is popular among families with children. Hausken believes it is important for children and young people to grow a relationship with the sea.
– When children learn about the sea, they also start to care for it. On our fishing trips the crew will tell about the catch, how it lives and how it can be prepared, says Hausken.
Ready for the dinner table
During the Norway Seafood Festival in March, cod and pollock is most likely to bite the hook in the Trondheimsfjord. Hausken has a few selected fishing spots that she is happy to share.
– Outside Munkholmen is one of the best places to catch cod and pollock, says Hausken.
The fish must of course be enjoyed. And if you don`t know how to prepare your catch, Hausken and her crew will help get the fish ready for the dinner table.
– We fillet and pack the fish, so it can go straight home and into the pot, concludes the experienced skipper.
