Children and young people eat too little seafood. The grocery chain Meny will create a separate universe for children to increase knowledge about fish and spark their interest in them.

– The reason Meny launched the Fiskeknappen is to create enjoyable food experiences and make fish and seafood more exciting. We believe that the Fiskeknappen skill mark can encourage children and young people to eat more seafood, says Nina Gjerdrum, project manager for Fiskeknappen at Meny.

A popular seafood universe
Fiskknappen is a knowledge game aimed at children and young people of all ages. Here the children get to know Sofie Sei, Kaja Kveite, Øyvind Trout and the other fish in the Fiskeknappen universe.

– The children we meet at the fish counter find it exciting and want to learn about why Kaia Kveite has both eyes on one side and look at the razor-sharp teeth of Brage Breiflabb. Many are curious, but haven’t tasted much other than salmon, says Gjerdrum.

The Fiskeknappen can be found in all Meny’s stores. When the Children’s Seafood Festival begins in Trondheim, the grocery chain will have its own stand where children can touch fish, learn about its habitat and diet, and, most importantly, taste it.

– Our skilled professionals ensure that learning and play are one and the same. We think the Fiskeknappen fits perfectly into the Children’s Seafood Festival, concludes Gjerdrum.
